Rhinoplasty
GET THE FLAIR OF BIG BUSINESS WITH RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty is a surgical operation intended to modify the shape of the nose, and whose purpose is not only aesthetic. It can also correct respiratory problems caused by the deformation of the nose.
We will present you the essential points concerning rhinoplasty; before the operation, the procedure and after the operation.
Before the Rhinoplasty operation:
The patient's motivations and requests will have been analyzed. A careful study of the nasal pyramid and its relationship with the rest of the face will have been made, as well as an endo-nasal examination. We have the ability to simulate the result through photographic retouching or computer morphing. Please note that these alterations allow you to preview the result, we cannot promise that the result will be 100% identical. Regarding the precautions to be followed before the operation, the surgeon and the anesthetist will tell you about them through several appointments.
Nose plastic surgery :
Usually it is performed under general anesthesia. However, in some cases, local anesthesia deepened by tranquilizers administered intravenously ("vigil" anesthesia) may be sufficient. The choice between these different techniques will be the result of a discussion between you, the surgeon and the anesthesiologist.
The operation can be performed on an "outpatient basis", that is to say in day hospitalization with an exit the same day after a few hours of monitoring. However, depending on the case, a short hospital stay may be preferable. Entry then takes place in the morning (or sometimes the day before in the afternoon) and exit is authorized the next day or two.
The incisions are concealed, most often on the inside of the nostrils or sometimes under the upper lip, and therefore no visible scar results on the outside. Sometimes, however, external incisions may be required: either hidden at the base of the wings of the nose if the size of the nostrils is to be reduced; either across the columella (pillar separating the two nostrils) in order to to perform an open rhinoplasty "(allowing to discover the nasal infrastructure), sometimes useful when the deformities are important or if it is about a surgical revision.
After the Rhinoplasty operation:
The consequences are rarely painful and it is rather the inability to breathe through the nose (due to the presence of wicks or drains) which constitutes the main inconvenience of the first days. We observe, especially in the eyelids, the appearance of edema (swelling) and sometimes bruises (bruises), the size and duration of which vary greatly from one individual to another. It is recommended to rest and not to make any effort the days following the intervention.
The other supplements will be explained by our surgeon during his post-operative follow-up.
A period of two to three months is necessary to have a good overview of the result, knowing that the final appearance will only be obtained after six months to a year of slow and subtle evolution. This result is, most often, in accordance with the wishes of the patient and quite close to the plan established preoperatively. The intervention brings a morphological and aesthetic improvement most often quite appreciable, as well as a significant psychological benefit. The changes brought about by a rhinoplasty are permanent, and only minor and late changes will occur related to the natural aging process (as for an unoperated nose). The goal of this surgery is to improve, not to achieve perfection. If your wishes are realistic, you should be very satisfied with the result.
Possible complications:
They result from a misunderstanding about the goals to be achieved or arise due to unusual scar phenomena or unexpected tissue reactions such as spontaneous poor restart of the skin or retractile fibrosis.
These small imperfections, if they are not well tolerated, could possibly be corrected by a surgical retouch, in general much simpler than the initial intervention, both from a technical point of view and from the postoperative point of view. However, such retouching cannot be carried out for several months in order to act on stabilized tissues which have reached good scar maturation.
