Blepharoplasty is an operation that removes the signs of aging and the elements that weigh down the eyelids in order to give you a piercing look.

1. Sagging skin

• The course of the blepharoplasty operation

We can perform the operation under local or general anesthesia, with or without hospitalization according to the wishes of the patient and the recommendation of the surgeon. It lasts between half an hour to 1 hour. It depends on the number of eyelids that our surgeon will have to perform.

There are thus 2 techniques:

• Technique with scars : This is the method chosen in case of sagging skin alone or associated with fatty pads (bags under the eyes or hernia) . The surgeon makes the sutures with a very fine non-absorbable thread that goes under the skin, from each end of the scar so that it can be easily removed. He then glue mini-plasters on the ends of the sutures to hold them in place. The sons are taken on the fifth day.
• Technique without scars : If he only treats bags under the eyes without significant sagging skin, the practitioner chooses the conjunctival route which makes it possible to hide the incision on the inner lining of the eyelid. At the end of the operation, the surgeon places compresses soaked in cold physiological saline over the eyes to reduce the risk of edema and bruising.

This operation is not very painful, in case of tension in the eyelids a simple analgesic intake is sufficient. During the first few days, the eyes may be more sensitive to light and water more. This is why it is advisable to wear sunglasses. Most people can resume normal activities (reading, driving, etc.) after 48 hours. Women can apply light makeup from the eighth day.

Regarding the results, the eyes appear more rested and the person visibly rejuvenates by ten years. The result will be optimal three to six months after the operation when the skin tissues have regained their flexibility.
